Focus on subsea recapitalisation

Senior representatives of three nations that are recapitalising their submarine programmes - Norway, Sweden and the Netherlands - will provide a fascinating scene setting plenary session when the Undersea Defence Technology conference
kicks off at Ahoy Convention Centre, Rotterdam on Wednesday, 3rd June.  Participants will include R Adm Andreas Olsson, Director Naval System and Procurement Management at the Swedish Naval Material Administration and Capt Arnth Lien, Commander Submarine Forces, Norway. This will be followed by keynote speeches by V Adm MJM Borsboom, Director, the Dutch Materiel Organisation (DMO) and Wim Bargerbos, Principal Directorate of General Policy Affairs, Netherlands MOD.

The three-day conference agenda, whose overall theme is ''Underwater Capability for an Uncertain Future', is packed with expert presentations on the issues that top the subsea defence and security agenda. Heads of the UK and Italian submarine services will be joined by leaders in the field of research and development from NATO and the Netherlands to explore both challenges and solutions in the underwater environment. The conference includes detailed discussions on platform design; autonomous and remotely piloted systems; weapons, sensors and command systems; anti submarine warfare; and mines and mine countermeasures. The crossover of technologies between the military and civil sectors will also be examined.
