U.N. Ro-Ro acquires Ulusoy RoRo

January 25, 2017 - U.N. Ro-Ro İşletmeleri A.Ş., carrying out intermodal transport between Turkey and Europe with its fleet of 12 modern ships and a capacity of 322 thousand heavy goods vehicles (HGV) per year, is signing off on a significant development and acquiring Ulusoy Shipping Group’s Ro-Ro operations. U.N. Ro-Ro, has completed in signing a share purchase agreement with Ulusoy Shipping Group regarding this acquisition, realizes one of the most important investments in the shipping sector with the enterprise value of 215 million Euros. With this investment, U.N. Ro-Ro reaffirms its confidence in the Turkish and European economies, also demonstrating its conviction to continue creating value for the interests of Turkish exports and shippers. The acquisition of Ulusoy RoRo by U.N. Ro-Ro, will contribute to increases in the volume of Turkey's trade with Europe, while also providing shippers the flexibility to export from the Çeşme port that serves the Aegean region in addition to the current ports of U.N. Ro-Ro in Pendik, Ambarlı and Mersin. Thus, Turkish export products will be able to be shipped to Europe faster and with more competitive prices. The frequency of sailings from Çeşme to Trieste will be increased and there will be an opportunity to open new lines to destinations in Europe such as Bari and Lavrio. U.N. Ro-Ro, offering value added services to the customers of international land route companies in intermodal shipping, will be supporting the increase of Turkish trade volume with Europe by acquiring Ulusoy Ro-Ro.
